Birthday Thoughts
May. 31st, 2011 07:49 pmNext Wednesday on June 8th, I turn thirty and I have no idea how I want to celebrate.
Last year I had two of my friends from Ann Arbor over and we had food and played D&D. I know I want to do something even if its not terribly big and I'd love thoughts.
My parents are visiting later in the month and I know that will involve celebrations, they also sent me a package that I need to get from the post office. Apparently I heard the post man at the buzzer but they didn't talk into it so I was confused and missed it.
Also there will be the new X-Men movie at some point since I've had good luck with movies of his that come out near my birthday. Becoming Jane came out in New Zealand the week of my birthday and I saw it twice since it made me happy.
Please tell me some of your favorite birthday plots and plans?
In something not birthday related, I got my haircut and it looks great. Its at my chin and so much lighter though the hairdresser almost forgot to cut my bangs until I reminded her. I'm still feeling tired but I think that's really the heat and how there wasn't any in between here. We just went from rainy to full on summer.

Date: 2011-06-01 02:17 am (UTC)I actually play Jane in Milliways. I'm slowly going through canon with her which is why she hasn't been in for ages.

Date: 2011-06-01 02:27 am (UTC)That sounds like a nice way to spend a day. I'm all for low key as I don't have that many people I know in the area.

Date: 2011-06-01 02:34 am (UTC)So whenever we had our Friday night meetings, they'd bring most of them and it was a chance to try new things. I should email the couple I know here and see if they have plans since it'd be nice to get the few people I know here to meet.

You play D&D? Have you seen this video - Roll a D6 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54VJWHL2K3I) - it's hysterical and awesome.

Date: 2011-06-01 12:56 pm (UTC)So. Yeah.
Birthdays for me have basically been a wild array of occasions every year. I usually have what I deem ~birthday week~ in which I get together with all of my favourite people during the week, separately, for little small lunches or coffees or dinners or whatever.
That way I get to see all my favourite people, I don't put any pressure on anyone to ~buy me a gift~ or to attend my big shindig and stand around awkwardly trying to ~mingle~ with a slew of my other friends, and I get one-on-one time with whoever I'm with.
Plus? I get to spend a WEEK celebrating my birthday.
Pictures of haircut, plz!

Date: 2011-06-01 05:31 pm (UTC)Since we all have busy schedules, there might be a few parties and mail and things like that, sometimes it even turns into birthday month.
There will be pictures once I get a decent picture of it.

Date: 2011-06-01 06:16 pm (UTC)I'm not a huge ~*~birthday party~*~ person -- I like to grab dinner and drinks with people I adore, and keep it low-key. I get super-excited about other people's birthdays! But when it comes to my own, ehhhh, for me, it's typically just another day.
But my most epic birthday was my 23rd; one of my BFFs from undergrad and I had a joint happy birthday/happy trails celebration, and it was ridonkulous. We crammed about 30 people into my apartment to pre-game, and then hit this hilarious dive of a karaoke bar. We stormed the place, usurping all of the forty-somethings, and had everyone singing along to "Don't Stop Believing" by the time we closed down the place. Afterward, we hit Tolly-Ho (it's Lexington's all-hours institution, for sure) for burgers and shakes; I don't think I saw my bed till well after sunrise.
Uh, my 24th saw Moonshine Mania 2K7, and that is something I most definitely not not recommend, ever. Ever ever EVER.

Date: 2011-06-01 06:22 pm (UTC)Low key is fine but I do like birthdays that stretch with things that keep cropping up.
Yes, I love finding things for other people's birthdays, its just fun.
