Gunpowder, Treason and Plot
Nov. 6th, 2004 11:09 amYesterday was Guy Fawkes Day and so fireworks were being let off all over town, which was fun and kind of exciting and helped my mood. Since on the 3rd, I spent most of the day furiously checking the election results whenever I got the chance. But hearing Terry Pratchett made me relax, he's a good and funny speaker though according to Rowan, he's not as good the second time. So he helped then I just decided I've done all I can and whatever happens, happens. On Thursday it wasn't a great thing to find out Bush one four more years, but Kerry conceded really gracefully and did the right thing for the country. Now I can only hope that Bush remembers that 51% isn't a powerful mandate and realizes he has made some mistakes and tries to heal our divided country.
Since I've been reading too much news, Bush being re-elected had kind of been getting me down so Rowan and I met up yesterday since we both needed some cheering up. Then we went and saw Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, a really funny movie and just enjoyable. The two of us laughed the louded and most of anyone in the theatre and just had a good time. So I was able to go to bed relaxed and realizing, that America has spoken and I hope the majority made the right choice. And if not, well at least I'm over here in New Zealand for his first year of W's second term.
At the moment, the weather is looking utterly lovely, my parents are deep into their plans to spend the holidays here and life is looking good. I'm going to have a fairly lazy day, pay my rent, do some shopping and eat a nice lovely lunch. Also I ws able to actually sleep in until 10:30 this morning even though the sun kept trying to wake me up.
