Today is grey and icky but I'm still going to walk over to the library, because I need more Diana Wynne Jones' books.

Also I finally signed up for Netflix, so I'll get to see the end of Band of Brothers, Enchanted, Dark Angel and some other things. Any recommendations of what I should put in my queue guys?

Oh and because I'm thinking about it, I've been reading a couple of new canons while traveling and thought I'd talk about them now.

Young Wizards book 1

I'm sad to say that I was disappointed in this book, it was just doing so much and I found the characters wonderful, but wished the plot had slowed down a lot. I think what made it the most disappointing was how much I love Nita in Bar but only saw part of her wonderfulness in the book. I'll try the second book since everyone says its better and see.

X-Wing-The Krytos Trap by Michael Stackpole

I really want to read more of these books, because I like the fresh perspective on the world and the plot just caught me a lot.

Oh and I'm feeling a lot better than yesterday, I just had a night of sleeping badly but Mother's Day stuff went really well.

I made this fantastic Moroccan dish of chicken, almonds and chickpeas among other things.

Then I went to bed earlier and I think that helped though the wind last night was really crazy which made sleep interesting.

ETA The storm is supposed to get worse so I won't be walking anywhere, driving is also in question.

Books 4 through 7 have slower plots, I think; 2 definitely doesn't slow down any, but it remains one of the most amazing, epic, important books I've ever read.

Er, not that I'm biased or anything.

Moar Diana Wynne Jones! \o/

I agree with Adiva, by the way, as re: Young Wizards - the second was always my absolute favorite growing up, and I really should reread it one of these days.

That being said, I am definitely more attached to the ones I read as a kid than the ones I read more recently (although I do enjoy the new ones in many ways!), so it may just be one of those series that you have to hit at a Formative Age to really adore wholeheartedly.
