Pirates 2 and General Update

ceitfiannaThere's not too much to update since I've been enjoying being on vacation and haven't heard from my supervisor about when we're meeting. And I haven't emailed him because I like being lazy at the moment. Basically I've been doing lots of reading and watching Miss Marple mysteries since the dvds at the public library will play on my computer. I have discovered the Nightside series all thanks to ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
daniidebrabant and its wonderful and dark. If you're a fan of noir and good urban dark fantasy then read this series. Also I finally got to see Harry Potter 4 again, because it will play on Phil's computer, which is good and hopefully I can watch some of the tv he has on cds on mine now.
Thursday I went to see Pirates 2 withmashugenah and some work collegues of his flatmates I think. It wasn't completely clear to me how everyone knew it each, but a good crowd. I felt a tad awkward, because this was the first time I'd met Mash in person since we'd chatted on lj and the nzrag forums but that's all. The movie was enjoyable, not as self contained as the first one since its clearly waiting for the next bit, but with some good moments. Johnny Depp stole the show as always though he didn't get as much screen time and sometimes the other storylines were just going a bit wild, but it worked. I'd be willing to see it again at some point since it did have a lot going on and some brillant moments though it sadly was slower than the first one. If you enjoyed the first movie, you'll like this one, but don't expect the same level of brillance since this one is trying to achieve different things.
Friday was a busy day since I met up with Sunny and her friend Anna from Germany and had a nice chat at a cafe after I found them. I went to the wrong supermarket, Wellington has three New Worlds, one near Parliament, one in the center of town and one near Te Papa, I use the two in the center and at Parliament and Sunny uses the other one. We said to meet at New World, I went to the one in the center of town then had to rush across town to find her. Had quite a nice time and I found a place that makes yummy hot chocolate. Oh and the weather has finally cleared up, up to Thursday, its been windy, rainy and cold every day. Not fun after Australia. After the stop with Sunny, I hoofed it across town to have dinner with the Clemersons, which was really nice. We talked about Australia, which Peter and Navinia have some experience of and I showed them my pictures. Rowan and I had a nice walk to return some videos and just catch up. Its good, I feel like we're friends again and I"m enjoying being single at the moment and focussing on myself. Though I do miss some nice arms to hug me, but that's what a good imagination is for. ;-)
Nothing too special yesterday and today I went to the World Press Photo exhibition, which was really interesting though quite crowded since today was the last day. But I'm glad I went, the pictures were a range of hopeful to sad and striking. Also I had a nice conversation with my parents who are off in the Southwest, meeting with good friends and enjoying a road trip. And I'm going to haul myself off to a sports bar at 6 o'clock in the morning to cheer on Les Bleus. They're the reason I care about the World Cup since I was in France in '98, so I owe it to them to watch the final. Also I saw the first match, I should see the final. I think also it will be a good and exciting game. I'm going to try and get some sleep before hand, because I have class at 10 on Tuesday morning and I'd like to be coherent. Well, this was a long update, overall I'm doing well and its been great to have a rest but now I'm ready to be busy again and I think I will be.
