It feels really good to be back in school, I've got tons of reading and will have six presentations and about 5 papers due throughout this year for all of my classes plus a big research essay of about 10,000 words due in October and the crazy thing is that I'm looking forward to all of it. I only have class three days a week, Aristophanes from 10 to 12 on Tuesdays with a wonderful woman who loves Aristophanes and just has such fun teaching it, we're reading a play a week. And then on Wednesdays from 11 to 1, I learn about Etruscan Art and feel full and slightly to bursting by the end of class with all the information and slides, but also very enjoyable. Then on Fridays from 3 to 5, a history of Athenian Litagtion and Democracy, also with a great professor who really enjoys what he's talking about.
And I've got a possible title for my research essay that I'm working on with Peter Gainsford, who's helpful and enthusiastic about my topic as am I. The proposed title is Brides, lovers, athletic victors: Myth and storytelling in Greek Poetry, a mouthful but it covers all the things that I love, poetry, storytelling and my newest interest the poet Pindar. The weather's pretty and Rowan's plans are proceeding well as my parents have returned from Guatemala and my family does well. Life is good. Also Wellington is getting me in good shape since Victoria is partway up one of the main hills in the city and I'm trying to make sure I walk up it at least three times a week instead of being lazy and taking the cable car.
