Pictures and other stuff

I've been writing for a while about my family and going down to Maryland and such, so I figured since I just got back a nice, batch of pictures that I would post some of them online. I was hoping to be able to email some of them to Rowan, but I havne't figured out how to do that yet so I'm just going to stick with my old tried and true method. The first pictures are from the beautiful rooftop of my parent's shore house, where the sunset is always celebrated with good drinks, warm jackets and good conversation. The friends up with us are wonderful people, professors and artists, who have a wonderful little Westie named Toby that I have a picture of. Then there will be shots of Ava and Celia and one of our crazy family parties, mixed in with the Maryland Fair and another fun dinner party. I'm going to try and cut all of these so that's its not too cumbersome for other people.
Life is good with me too, I'm down at the shore with my parents, I've found a way to pick up a job I did before at the centre my mother works at doing organizing and archiving. I'm learning how to drive stick and quite enjoying it, I'm getting more confident each day and hopefully will have my license by the time Rowan gets here in January. Also I'm in the processing of applying to Victoria University in Wellington, New Zealand for a bachelor of arts (honours) which is the first year of a Master's program in classics. I've talked to the head of postgrad stuff in the classics department and a prof and it just feels right since I love Wellington and New Zealand and I'm ready to studying what I enjoy. Since I think getting a higher degree in a topic I'm passionate about will help me see more of what I can do with my loves and knowledge. Okay onto the pictures.

Enjoying the end of a good day by the shore, its a bit chilly up there but well worth it. Connie and Michael are the couple joining my parents, both are artists though he's also a philosopher. So when there around good conversation abounds.

This it Toby, the westie that Connie and Michael treasure and he's one of the nicest dogs I've ever met, sweet, and he loves people. If you're wearing sandals, he'll lick your toes.

Katie at work at the Faire, this was a really, great day with Sarah and wonderful to reconnect with good friends. Though I wish there could have been more time to just hang out with both of them. A warning and inviation to all friends come January, I want to introduce Rowan, so we may head down there or I may throw a small party.

Me in my garb that I bought my sophomore year at Randolph-Macon and its still going strong, the brooch was aquired that day and the necklace is greenstone (jade) from New Zealand. At that point, my feet hurt, but I was happy. Sarah's taking the picture in her and Karola's nice apartment.

My niece Ava going to her first day of preschool, her backpack is Spongebob Squarepants and she's now been going for a while and really starting to like school. Her parents are getting quite a large collection of her artwork too. Ava's going to turn 3 at the start of November.

Ava's little sister Celia, who turned 1 at the start of May. I took this picture, one of the days I was watching her and her sister. At the moment, Ava's at school. So tis just me Celia and the dog General.

My brother Robert in his kitchen, behind is most of my family and all cooking a nice and crazy family dinner. The guy in black is Matt, my sister Leslie's boyfriend.

Jessica with her two girls, Celia's on her lap and Ava's in red. Dinner is cooking at the moment and we're hanging out in Rob and Jessica's living room, the table in front was carved by my father.

Robert with the General, who is a sweet and quite old pug being very happy since he's getting his tummy rubbed. We're all hanging out after a nice dinner.

Ava and Jessica enjoying dessert after a great dinner.

Another nice dinner party in Lewes with more of my parents friends, lots of good food and conversation.

A beautiful day at Cape Henolopen State Park in Lewes, the bird is a buzzard and the observation tower is left over from World War II when Cape Henlopen protected the Cheasapeake Bay.

A praying mantis that we saw during one of our walks at the State Park, what a strange and beautiful creature.
Well, I hope that's enough pictures to keep everyone happy and satisfied since I enjoyed taking them and experiencing them. Rowan, I hope these hope you have a good idea of what to expect when you get here. And my cold's almost gone and the weather's shifting and the leaves are turning and life is just good.
