I've been posting a lot this week and I'm just fine with that. It's nice to have a lot of interesting memes floating around and the fic I thought was done is getting added to. So that will be posted another time.

The ship meme is still open here.

Now I'm going to answer three rounds of this five words meme.
Comment to this post, and I will list five things I associate with you, They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your LJ (or just add a reply back to me). Other people (including me) can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

baking
I love to bake because it makes my place smell delicious and wonderful things to eat are created at the end. My fall back recipes are cornbreads, scones, cookies, and banana bread. I also love trying new recipes and playing with ones I have.

children
Children make me happy, they're so hopeful and see the world in a bright and wonderful way. I've always wanted to be some kind of teacher because I want to be around children. I adore the idea of getting to share books with kids. Also someday I hope to have kids when I find the right guy.

Discworld
My first introduction to Discworld was when I was traveling around Wales, Ireland and England after my semester abroad. I bought Discworld books at used bookstores, read them, traded them or left them at B&Bs before buying new ones. I was completely hooked and since then try and read the newest Disc books when I can. Though it was a pain, I carried back a few of those books with me; Eric, Wyrd Sisters and The Light Fantastic.

car
I got my license after returning from New Zealand and got my car not long after that. I love the freedom of being able to drive though I tend to walk whenever I can, but the US is good for road trips. My car is a grey Mazda3 named Bones, because it's dependable and beeps at me when things are wrong.

photography
I'm from a family of photographers and I love having a camera that I can carry in my purse to take pictures whenever the mood strikes me. I keep thinking about maybe doing more with my pictures but haven't figured out what yet. For now putting my writing out there and getting a job needs to come first.

Charles Xavier
This is going to be long. Charles hooks into a lot of things that are a part of who I am and how I grew up. My father is a retired private practice psychiatrist so I grew up in a household where problems were dealt with by figuring out the whys behind my actions and others. My mother's an anthropologist so with different language, she does the same sort of thing. Also a constant refrain for me after describing a dream was; What do you think it means? Then there's the me part as I've so often been the person in my group of friends who is the bridge and the fixer, which I'm good at but is tiring. When I watched Charles, he clicked for me as someone who cares almost too much. He can see all those whys and wherefores of what's behind how people act but he can only do so much. Now that I've started writing him, I can't seem to stop and I don't mind. He's also played by James McAvoy who is one of my actors that I love seeing and who makes me happy.

New Zealand
My three years in New Zealand were where I learned how to be an adult through supporting myself, that I'm not cut out for being an academic by breaking myself trying to write a masters' thesis and fell in love with the country. It's too far away from a lot of people I love but New Zealand and Wellington especially is a place I consider home.

University of Michigan
Michigan is so different from all the other colleges and universities in my life and I find it fascinating. I grew up on the Swarthmore college campus, attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College and the University of Victoria. I think if you combined all of them, you'd maybe cover only some of the schools at Michigan. The resources here are amazing and I love being a librarian and getting to teach students about them and it was a good place to be a student. Not perfect and I ran head first into the bureaucracy but the right place to get my masters.

social media
I attended the School of Information and sometimes it seemed like for every class you could add on and social media. I created my Twitter account due to my children's literature class and I find the ways people think about social media fascinating. I'm a firm believer in more communication is good, listening is even better and when people take the time to listen, social media can do a lot.

wearing face paint
When I was in Middle School and High School, I attended a theater program that was wonderful. I would take classes and then in the summer there was a production. One of my favorite classes was learning how to do stage makeup, I loved it so much. We designed make up and then did it on ourselves and stood on the stage as the rest of the class gave critique. When I was started doing LARPs especially Changeling LARPs this became a very useful skill. I love how face paint can change the shape of your face and how people interact with you.

Tea
I adore tea and drink so much of it. Before I went to New Zealand, I drank a fair amount of tea but after living there, it became my go to drink for caffeine. I've never really liked coffee except Greek coffee which actually tastes like it smells. I adore the variety of teas and how it warms me up inside.

New Zealand
One of the reasons I went to New Zealand was because of Lord of the Rings combined with the fact that they had a good work visa program. I had such a range of experiences from being a temporary office worker in good and bad places to being a student and learning new ideas of what's expected. It changed me because it taught me more than my semester abroad that I could go out into the world without a lot of safety nets and make it on my own.

libraries
Libraries are my happy place. I love the sense of community you get in them and all the books. To be able to work in a library and make enough to live is my dream.

writing
I've been writing since I was little. Writing and creating stories has always been a part of me and how I define myself. I consider myself a storyteller. Lately I've been putting my fanfiction out into the world a bit more. I started this two years ago when I first signed up for Yuletide, but now it feels comfortable to post my stories on Archive of our Own. I've yet to really venture too much into any of my main fandoms, because I'm not sure what I'll find. I love writing for myself and for others. There's something rather amazing about being able to with your words help another person find another world or see one they thought they knew a little differently.

Moist
Moist is a character I didn't expect to be playing. I own most of the Discworld books and I bought Going Postal when it first came out and read it. Then I didn't reread it for a while and when I was going to give some books out picked it up and started rereading it. Moist just snuck into my head and I love playing him. Currently Charles X is drowning him out as they have some similar traits but he's just fun and gone in unexpected directions.
