ceitfianna: (James in the rain)
[personal profile] ceitfianna
The rain has been going all weekend and delayed my brother's flight arriving last night from Chicago but he arrived and we had a late dinner and a good time. This morning we had brunch and we've been talking about everything from books to jobs to travel and I've missed him so much. I'm lucky that I really love all my siblings and this brother is the one I see least as he lives so far away.

Since he didn't bring a book with him, I gave him To Say Nothing of the Dog to read which makes me happy. I love being able to recommend a book and then say, here, now you can read it. In exchange I was given French cheese and amazing chocolates, which are waiting for me after work.

[livejournal.com profile] wanderlustlover just posted this meme and it looks like it has the possibility of being rather fascinating.

Comment and I will comment back with a picture of the fictional character that most reminds me of you. Then post the same in your journal.

Oh, I love 'To Say Nothing Of The Dog' and anything I managed to get my hand on by Connie Willis, even the dreary and terribly saddening 'Doomsday Book'.

Yes, you might be right -- among all my charries, she's probably the one most likely, what with the Geek Goth thing (in the canon I take her from), and the fact that I grew up in Wiesbaden that has an important altar stone of hers, which is quite obvious, as it's a spa town of hot springs that were already known to the Romans.

That reminds me -- I need to redye my hair. The purple part has washed out, only the boring chestnut remains.-

I am what...?

Well, yes, probably I am. I'm lazy for long stretches of time, but if I find something important, I get going about it. And it's possible to change things if you push in the right place -- that's Archimedes' fulcrum or pivot -- if you've got the right one, you can move the world.

Yes, I'm nowhere near as focused as either of them, or as Ma'at, come to that. Sirona is more random. Why she really does what she does in canon still eludes me.

No, that's not Manhattan, it's 'Mainhattan' -- Frankfurt. The only skyscrapered city in Germany. The pointy highrise in the background is the Messeturm, or Trade Fair Tower, which I use in the icons for the tall office building of the bad guys in my else!game. As that's not far from Wiesbaden, I found it sort of fitting.

Yes, that skyscraper is rather iconic; when you fly over Frankfurt in a holding pattern, you'll notice the red tower with the pyramid on top.

I have a feeling this will be too easy but I'm curious to see what image you come up with.

Eee! I want that cravat. I would seriously wear it everyday. :D *noms on it*

And yes, they probably are, haha. XD Silly boys.

I'm still working on my replies to people who tagged the meme in my journal. >.>; I think I'm overthinking this.

Sure, I'm curious!

And oooh, French cheese and chocolates in trade for recommending a good book to someone. This seems like an EXCELLENT DEAL to me!

Hee! I will assume you mean Piotr, in which case I am highly entertained. (And there are definitely aspects we don't share, but also some of me in my writing of him, as with everyone I write or RP! Although I cannot loom a quarter so well.)
