Seven Days-Pride

ceitfiannaI've been wanting to do this meme as its been floating around and I thought today would be nice to start. Part of this is I'm trying to not let myself get bogged down by the downhill rush of the end of the semester and having lists is good for that. I emailed the Classics' advisors in my search for a class I want to take this summer, I know there's one out there and it would make me so happy if I could revisit my love of language and literature.

1-I'm intelligent.
I pick things up quickly and have always done well in school. I'm currently working on my third degree and love having the chance to dig deeper into topics I never expected. At jobs, I can come in not knowing a lot and pick up what I need to do with few mistakes and get things done.
2-I'm brave.
I went to New Zealand for the first time with savings, a worker holiday visa, a name in a city and two nights provided by the same people who helped me get the visa. By the time I'd left that first year, I'd held three jobs, found a boyfriend, cute but immature and was already making plans to return to New Zealand. One of my favorite ways to travel is with few plans. When I was studying abroad, after living in Greece, I spent a month in the UK and Ireland. What I would do is before I went anywhere I would know either how I was getting there or where I was staying rarely did I know both. I think Dublin was the only exception and London too since they required more thought. I adore getting lost and finding my feet. It just makes me happy since an open road is full of possibility.
3-I'm good with languages.
I can read Latin and Greek and speak French and a little bit of modern Greek. Dialects and accents come easy to me since I adore the music of language. When I was translating Homer in Athens, I would stumble on the exact grammar but by following the music of the story, I was able to translate.
4-I'm incredibly comfortable in front of an audience.
While I do get slightly nervous before I do any sort of presentation or go onstage, once I'm there, things just click. At SI I constantly volunteer to do group presentations since they don't scare me. I've done storytelling and theater and miss it. There's a rush when I'm in front of people that just feels right.
5-I'm good with people.
It never takes me long to pick up the culture and undercurrents of a group or a class. Whenever I'm in a group, I'm the one trying to figure out what's going on and smooth out all the ripples. Even when I'm feeling incredibly annoyed at someone, what helps me is thinking about the reasons why they might be doing something or acting the way they are. Then I think about that as I approach them since it doesn't take a lot to improve the atmosphere of those around you and is worth doing.
6-I can cook.
I love experimenting when I cook, finding a basic recipe and playing with it. I grew up eating a variety of cuisines and both my parents adore cooking and baking so I'm the same way. One of the things that I don't like about my schedule at the moment is I don't have time to cook.
7-I've got a good eye.
Photography is one of my favorite things and I love it because I love spotting moments. This comes through in my writing too, I adore when things just click into place and if I can grab it in a phrase or a picture I'm so happy. This also comes through in how I am with picking things for people, I can find just the right present for someone, a necklace that just is a person. Those finds make me happy since its a way of sharing that aha of oh, that's how you see the world.
Once I got going this went fairly quickly, I think this is going to be a nice thing to work on between other stuff.
