If today is anything to judge by, this will be a good semester. The new SI building is about a twenty minute walk from my place instead of thirty minutes, so my mornings won't be as awful. My first class, Digital Libraries is taught my a professor that I really liked last semester and its going to be good.
The other one, History of the Book makes me glee so much, we're starting with rolls and Classics and moving our way forward, there are only fifteen people in the class so its a discussion versus lecture. Today we talked about what is a book and it was a wonderful involved conversation. So many SI classes are just big, thirty or forty people so to have a small one about a subject that made my Literature and Classics' geek heart sing is awesome.
Tomorrow I don't have class until 1 pm, so I can relax tonight and then I have two early mornings in a row on Thursday and Friday.
As class was starting I even wrote a snippet of something that may end up a poem. Its rough and kind of silly, but I wanted to share it.
And I have been lost among the forests of Greek,
Dancing psis and phis tease me with meaning.
Homer laughs as he stretches meter, pulling it out and reeling it in.
Pindar jostles for attention, tempting hubris with a laugh.
The Fates watch them pass with a nod,
For they wish to see where the story will go.
