Sharing Dunedin
Dec. 19th, 2004 11:11 amMy parents arrived on Wendnesday and I got to show them this lovely city, I'm living in. We walked and walked all over town seeing the Botanic Gardens, the Otago Museum and the University, we had lovely dinners and time to rest our feet. We drove out to the Penisula and saw albatross nesting and flying, which is one of the most beautiful sites I've ever seen. A royal albatross in flight doesn't seem real since its so big yet it rides the wind with such ease. Then we went on a little thing called an Argo at one of the nature reserves and had a muddy, fun ride to see yellow-eyed and blue penguins. The Argo has 8 wheel drive and the ride was like a roller coaster, but with good views and mud and rain and wildlife. So that was a huge amount of fun. Yesterday we went back to the Otago Museum so my parents could see the Hillary exhibit and then we had lunch with Alison and went to the Public Art Gallery. Now they're on their way to Fiordland and I'm having a vacation and sleeping in late and relaxing. Then I get up early on Thursday morning and take a plane to Christchurch and we start the next round of travelling together. I've had a great time already and I can't wait to see what happens next.
