Meme Deluge

I have about fifteen minutes or so before I have to go to class and its been a good day so far so I thought I'd post a few of those RP memes that are going about and something from
bookelfe
Ask me anything!!
1.) Where and when did you start RPing?
When I was twelve at Longacre Farm, an amazing summer program, I first played AD&D.
2.) Do you RP anywhere other than LJ?
Not at the moment, but I do miss Larp. I'm hoping learning stunt swordwork and getting to do theater through that will tide me over for a bit.
3.) Do you play in any public games?
milliways_bar and
mixed_muses are where I spent a lot of my time. I've played in Shatterverse and Strangefellows but they never quite grabbed me as much as the other two.
4.) Do you prefer first-person comment spam or prose logging?
I tend towards prose but there are some threads that move towards dialogue, but I think really I only do that with Ashie's group and only sometimes. I'm a writer and that's one of my favorite parts of RPing on lj.
5.) What was the first character you ever played?
Gwyn, a half-elf bard and she's the only character that I play whenever I do a pick up game of D&D.
6.) Who's your favorite character to play now and why?
At the moment, this is hard since I love all my characters but currently Tiwa
pi_wakawaka is getting a lot of my time and Will
will_scarlett is being loud again and he's always there and I love him. Sameth
makesthings is loud but stuck in canon so he's a little more troublesome.
7.) What's the longest you've ever consistently played one character?
Honestly I'm not quite sure, probably one of my characters from my high school vampire larps but against I couldn't tell you for sure.
8.) What's your biggest RP pet peeve?
Passive aggressively trying to push where you want a scene to go. I'm all for having an agreed upon ending, but if you have an agenda for a scene, I'd rather you tell me what it is. Also bland characters, there are so many possibilities that bland characters just make me sad.
9.) Do you read RP secrets and the RP anon meme?
I've recently started reading RP secrets mainly out of curiosity, I've yet to recognize anyone but its kind of interesting to see how other RPers think. I've never done the RP anon meme.
10.) If you've played in public before, do you prefer community based or journal based games?
I started with a community game and I've never done a private one so I'm not sure I can compare.
11.) Would you rather play with someone who's very very IC but a mediocre writer or someone who isn't always IC (but not terrible) and a great writer?
I don't think I really have a preference for this since so much of it depends on the person and the character.
12.) Do you have a "RP partner"?
I'm not sure, I have some people that I do play with a lot, but no one that I would say is perhaps a consistent partner. I just like playing with too many people and finding new people to play.
13.) Do you ever stalk any casts, games, or players? Who?
If I had more time, I would stalk more.
14.) In your opinion, which part of an app is the most difficult/annoying?
Waiting and worrying about being long enough.
15.) Are you one of those people who has to customize their character's journal layout and userinfo?
Yes, even if its just a premade theme, I want something that fits the character. Its part of their outfit and I adore icons so much.
16.) What was your first game?
Online
milliways_bar and its still my favorite and reliable game.
17.) Are there any canons you avoid tagging characters from?
Not really, I love finding new canons through tagging.
18.) Most memorable scene in any thread?
I have no idea. I could write so much for this and so many great threads.
19.) Do you RP sex?
Yes. I love how it brings out different things in various characters, also I have three teenagers living in my head and a fertility goddess.
20.) Do you play more males or females?
At the moment, I think they're almost even but I tend to skew slightly male.
21.) What *won't* you RP?
I can think of few things that I'm not willing to at least try.
22.) Dressing rooms: yes or no?
I've never been in one so I have no idea.
23.) Ever RPed a pairing?
Yes, I adore writing messy and complicated relationships that are canon or just happen.
24.) Favorite place to play: musebox, open posts, public games, private games?
I think public games really since I'm not sure what all of those are.
25.) Talking RP with someone else who plays your character: fun or awkward?
I've never actually had this happen so I'd be curious.
Will Scarlett
will_scarlett
My first RP journal and no one had taken his name and I had no idea that people created usernames around things other than the names. I'm still amazed that no one had taken it.
Demeter
wheatencrown
In many pieces of ancient artwork, she's shown as wearing a crown of wheat. I don't remember how I ended up at this one, but I know crackchat helped.
The Pirate King
agloriousthing
"For it is, a glorious thing to be a pirate king."
Tumnus
friend_of_lucy
Bethan in crackchat figured this one out since really that's who Tumnus is, Lucy's friend.
Jane Austen
jane_becomes
She's from the movie Becoming Jane and this was the iteration that worked.
Sameth
makesthings
This is from a canon quote where he says all that he's good at is making things, the proper quote is on his journal.
Tiwa
pi_wakawaka
The Maori name for a fantail is piwakawaka and someone else had already grabbed it so I put in an underscore.

Date: 2010-01-22 10:36 pm (UTC)Then a good friend was planning on doing a year teaching English in Korea. This got me thinking that traveling clarifies things for me and I realized that if I went I wanted it to be for a year and somewhere English speaking. I didn't want to go to Europe since its expensive and I've traveled there a good bit.
So I started doing my research about New Zealand and Australia, Australia would only give me a four month working visa but New Zealand would give me one for twelve. So my plans set in motion and Lord of the Rings was also a big influence but really it was a lot of things just adding up.

Date: 2010-01-24 03:14 am (UTC)Then around the start of last year, I started volunteering at the library specially in the children's section, I'd been planning to but it took a while to happen. While I was there I realized just how much I loved libraries.
I've volunteered and worked at libraries before and I just loved it. So I did a few informational interviews and realized that I needed an MLS to do what I wanted to do. In April I visited Ann Arbor and now I'm here and it just feels right.
