On Tuesday I experienced my first earthquake, I was sitting in the staff meeting and the room vibrated. One of the ladies at work noticed and it went on for over a minute. Quite exciting, the trees outside were shaking at their bases and everything. We found out later that it was a 7.2 and was based off the south end of the South Island, so the places where it was the strongest, weren't really densely populated and no one was hurt. A cool experience and the last time there was one this big in the South Island was thirty years ago. Life is pretty good, feeling a little lonely and homesick today because its Thanksgiving, my parents will be here for Christmas and I'm not alone, I have people who care here.

Otherwise after many days of chaos and wanting to hurt computer guys and programs that wouldn't let me upload photos, I know have them and will be able to show you many things. Now I'm going to try and do a cut and really hope this works and then take you to photos.

"Welcome to the other side of the world"

On my second day in New Zealand, I saw this charming fellow jump off the SkyTower in Auckland. You gotta love the Kiwi sense of humour.

This is the view I see every morning and evening going to my apartment. The city of Dunedin and Otago Harbour stretched out there. In the 1840s, Dunedin was the busiest port in the world, because after here, all that's in front of you in the Pacific before you hit America.

About forty minutes from the centre of town is a yellow-eyed penguin reserve where you go hide in the trenches and get really close to the penguins as this picture shows. Ah, penguins in love.

Me and a sea lion.

Me and Rowan, we're all dressed up for Goth Night and Rowan is quite embarassed that this is the first picture of him to be seen. I don't think he looks that bad, it might have helped if he was smiling, but being goth and all, at least for that night.

The view from my window.

The window and part of my room.

The rest of my flat.

First Church with the Luminarium, an amazing piece of art you could walk into that was set up for the Festival of the Arts in Dunedin.

Inside the Lumanarium

Spring in the Botanic Gardens.

And last but not least, Terry Pratchett.
