Ruminations on Greek
Nov. 12th, 2007 12:19 pmI'm a classics major and have been now for what feels like quite a while, but something I do know about myself is at this point in time, I won't end up a classics professor.
I can translate Greek, but now I need to retranslate what I did before since I made things harder for myself. Diana is really patient with me and I feel bad and keep apologizing since I know how to do Greek sort of, but its not easy for me and I always feel not good enough when I'm doing it.
I love Greek literature, I adored Greece, but to truly teach it and have the confidence needed, I don't think I have it.
That's why I'm only getting a master's, it will help me get a wonderful job telling stories and spreading my love of words and history without requiring me to try and teach Greek. Okay, this sounds more whiny then I meant it to since I'm more thoughtful then anything else and will now eat my lunch and stop worrying.
