This weekend, Wellington had the Armageddon Expo, which is a nice convention, sadly no late night gaming sessions, but a very cool time. I spent pretty much all of Sunday afternoon there, Saturday night, Rowan and I saw his father act in Twelve Angry Men at the Khandallah Arts Theatre, a small neighbourhood deal but good acting.

Now the con itself was quite fun, lots of good booths, people giving autographs from Serenity, Enterprise and Babylon 5. Also I got to hear Richard Taylor of Weta speak and get his autograph along with one of the prosthetics guys and a stunt guy who played the Witch-King of Angmar and the Harad leader, the one on the Mumakil who Eomer got. I have pictures of all these people on my camera, the stunt guy was just fun since he's this Maori guy and a real New Zealander, who goes to cons and people look at the pictures of who's he's played and then at him and get confused. I also found a lovely Merry and Pippin, Return of the King bookmark that I'd never seen before and got it for myself, while having an awesome conversation with the buyer for Dymocks, possibly the best bookstore in Wellington. And this guy was nice and fun and they actually have a prop of Gimli's axe, which I got to hold and I found out what I want for my birthday. Dymock's has these cloak pins of the Rowan and High Elves since New Line never marketed them and they're made by a guy in New Zealand, so now you can just buy them. Very elegant and pretty and they look like something out of the British Museum.

Let's see what else happened there, that was of great interest, not too much, other than making me miss everyone from RMWC and I thought about going to Technicon and Otakon. So once I find a place that's closer to the University, I am finding the roleplaying people and getting a game going or finding a game since I think that will be a nice balance to the craziness of my studies. And I've got a couple of crazy weeks coming up, lots of presentations and papers, but then a nice long break too.

Oh and I'd forgotten how much I enjoy Aristophanes, since we just read the Birds, which is one of my favourite plays, fun and interesting and just a little bit nuts. If you enjoy alternate societies and things that like, read this play and you'll just laugh. Oh and my niece Celia turned two on May 1st and soon she will be getting her present from her far away Aunt Kate. Life is pretty good at this point, I just feel rather busy and I'm still searching for my place at Victoria University, but its a good place for me.
