Classes and a good start
Feb. 24th, 2006 01:56 pmI think this year will be good though busy, my classes all meet once a week for two hours, but my guess is that I'll be doing lots of reading and writing outside since I also have my research paper. Though all the people seem great and I'm living in a wonderful city and Rowan gets back on Sunday. So all in all life is pretty good. So at the moment, my tenative schedule is Aristophanes- Tuesday 10 to 11 am, Etruscan Art- Wednesday 11 to 1, and then History of Athens- Friday 3 to 5 and I've got an assignment to read lots of greek lyric poetry so that I can get my paper topic set and start writing. Also the other classics students seem like an interesting mix of younger and older people with various interests and just a good vibe. Life is feeling positive.
The other good news is that all of my various allergy and asthma drugs have some correlation in New Zealand, so hopefully I won't have any bad colds or such this year, which would make me very happy. Being sick in a foreign country that doesn't understand about central heating is not fun. Now the only other main thing I have to get set up is put some money on my cellphone and pass that number around, work with Rowan so that the two of us can happily handle our classes and find a place to live and just be. This year is an adventure, but I feel like its one that I can accomplish and I think its going to be a lot fun, since I'm studying subjects that fascinate me, that I haven't had a chance to go in depth on. And from the Victoria Library where I'm typing, I can see the harbour laid out in front of me, ringed with hills and green trees and blue water. I'm lucky to be in this place.
