Victoria University
Feb. 13th, 2006 03:16 pmToday I took the cable car up to Victoria University to find out where the classics department is and introduce myself to the head of the deparment, John Davidson. The trip up was nice and the campus is pretty, slightly steep and quite interesting in terms of getting around. It turns out that classsics is on the top floor of a building called Old Kirk that you have to go up three flights of stairs just to get too, I see myself getting in good shape this year. I had a nice talk with Professor Davidson and the administator for the department, a woman probably in her thirties. Then I had a nice lunch in the student union and had an interesting, vertical walk down some stairs and a winding path to get back to the center of town.
Everyday, I'm feeling more sure that this was the right decision for me, it turns out that there will be only about 8 to 15 people in each class, so no big lecture halls to worry about. Also, it sounds like Rowan's plans for going back to school and learning how to be a programmer are going well, though sadly he'll be going to the other University in Wellington: Massey that's in a slightly different part of town. But I know we'll figure it out. At the moment though a blizzard has it the East Coast, its sunny and nice on the other side of the world. Life is good.
