I've been sorting and scouting and shopping for my new apartment since the checks and lease have been received by the place so I know have a place to live starting the first of August in Ann Arbor.

Today I went with my mom to a huge kitchen outlet store to look at prices and think about what I need and want. Then we went to a thrift store and guys, I might get hooked on thrift stores. I now own wine glasses, four amazing crystals classes, some little brandy glasses, two simple and pretty table lamps, a lovely set of real wood salad bowls, big one and three little ones and a steel mixing bowl.

And one of my birthday presents from amazon arrived today so I have my own copy of Deep Secret, Year of the Griffin and Conrad's Fate and I still have some birthday money that I'm not sure what I want to buy with it. There was something else I wanted to say but I forget.

I've had so much good stuff from thrift stores [we call them charity shops over here]. My fiend in St Louis took me to one and I was astonished at the size of it. Ours tend to be much smaller but we have lots.

I've always enjoyed them, I've found so many good cheap books over the years and random stuff. Its just an added wonderful thing to be looking for things for my own apartment now.

It's so exciting to set up your own home for the first time. I hope you find loads of quirky bargains.

I think I will and then I'll keep finding stuff also I'm rediscovering stuff that's been at my brother's place too.
