X-Men, what the hell?

ceitfiannaThanks to bjornwilde, I've seen the newest X-Men: Days of Future Past clip and it worries me so much. Spoilery thoughts under the cut.
According to this Charles gave up his powers to walk. First off, that shouldn't be possible within the tech of the world if there's nothing cure like until the third movie. I know, X-Men continuity and all, but the hell. And also, that's not Charles Xavier, no matter how much you twist it about, that's not who he is. He defined himself as a mutant before Raven arrived and yes, I can see him being in great pain, but that would mean giving up his identity and his connection to other mutants. Its a great moment on film but I don't buy it at all.
The more I'm seeing of this film, the less and less I think its going to work. At least with fic and RP I can go AU and with the awful crap going on about Bryan Singer, its looking more and more likely that I won't go to the theater for this one. I'll just rent it at some point and consider it a weird bit of AU fiction.

Date: 2014-05-02 02:14 am (UTC)Red would be all 'why in the gods' names would you do THAT?' Not that she doesn't understand paying a price for something you want (see: OUaT magic), but he'd never pay that price in his right mind if he can live comfortably without the use of his legs.

Date: 2014-05-02 02:17 am (UTC)I haven't read that much of the comics but I know he's had the use of his legs at various points for plot. But with the character they've created within the movies, this isn't him.
