ceitfianna: (taking wing)
I volunteered to be interviewed for a survey being done by a group trying to create a social network thing around walking and it reminded me again how complicated settling into a new place is. The guy who interviewed me mentioned that just the bigness of the University plus the size of Ann Arbor do make it harder to actually connect. It seems like it should be simpler with all these people but its not quite.

I'd say that I'm really starting to make friends among people I have classes with but also like I'm still searching for the crowd of people who just make me feel comfortable. Last night I emailed the stage fighting group to say hello and that I'd like to connect with them since they seem to be the science fiction and fantasy group on campus but I haven't heard back yet.

Its strange and kind of hard because as any of you who've met me know, I love being in a group or even just with a good friend and talking and talking. I've ended up calling my parents a lot because that way I have someone to talk about my day with. I want more people to do this with, but that first phone call or email can be hard. Anyone have any advice since its hard being shy but I know there are folks here for me to connect with if I can just find them.
