Unexpected Miracles
Sep. 11th, 2009 04:44 pmToday started far too early when I woke up to walk to campus so I could open the UGL reference desk, that's the undergraduate library. I ended up actually having a lot of help since many of the librarians in that library tend to hang out over there. So the morning was quiet for patrons but busy with other people then it started to get busier and not as many people were around. In the end, I'm feeling rather happy about how it went though I wish it wasn't quite so early.
There were a number of librarians talking to people in SI and free food so my lunch was odd catering stuff before I went to a discussion or tutorial session for my 500 class. The GSI which is the Michigan name for a TA was nice but kind of nervous and the room was very cold so it dragged for a while before we actually got to the chance to discuss in groups. Then it went quickly and was a huge amount of fun as about five of us talked about how we define a library and how they adapt.
Then I had a nice long sit at Starbuck enjoying one of their tea lattes and some pumpkin bread before poking into lots of neat stores. I ended up buying a lovely agate bracelet with a shooting star pendant on it at this amazing place called The Peaceable Kingdom and talking about New Zealand with a woman who works there, she visited and is like me where New Zealand has part of her heart now.
So now I'm going to enjoy my weekend and I think put up another prompt that's been floating around since I feel like writing. Yes, I will get to the 28 flavors ones, I just haven't had as many ideas for them yet, blame Sameth being loud.
Apparently I can't find the one I was looking for so just surprise me with prompts.
