A Bit of a Curve Ball
Feb. 3rd, 2008 09:31 amLast night, I was up late reading Dark Lord of Derkholm and had finally turned off the light around 3 am or so, about twenty minutes afterwards the fire alarm went off. I got partially dressed once I realized it wasn't stopping and saw smoke in the corridor before I rushed down the fire stairs.
At around 8 am, I got to go up through the ashy building to get stuff for two night which I will spend in another residence hall. Currently I just had breakfast, had to walk across town to find internet since all the campus places are shut and I'm damned tired.
The fire was started due to a problem with one of the elevators and didn't cause any problems in the apartments though the halls are soot stained. We're not allowed in until they know how bad the electrical and water damage is.
That means that I'm going to have spotty internet access for the next few days, luckily there are internet cafes and campus spots, but I won't be as consistent.
Pictures will have to wait since I decided to grab clothes, shower stuff and camera to put in my laptop bag and leave the laptop there.
Though I have pictures of us all huddled in the room behind the church a few doors down who let us camp out while things were figured out. Right, basically, I'm safe, want to sleep and have a shower and don't know how long and when I'll be online.
