I realized I should have updated sooner but I've been enjoying having some time to just sleep and relax. My parents flew out on Monday after we had a lovely three weeks together. We spent time in Wellington then flew to Auckland, from where we drove to Northland and then had a nice road trip through the North Island stopping in Omapere, Raglan, Taupo, Napier and Martinborough before back to Wellington for the rugby. Let's see, where to start since we did so much, I guess I'll try and hit the highlights, my parents loved Wellington and my Mom kept comparing it to San Francisco, she's orginally from northern California. We saw a play at Circa, spent lots of time at Te Papa and climbed Mount Victoria and even got a lovely day and I didn't get lost, always a plus. Then it was up to Northland, getting out of Auckland was awful but Hokianga harbour was beautiful and the kauri forest was just amazing, one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Also we went to Waitangi, which was fascinating for other reasons. Then down to Raglan for a wander and a good time in a funky beach town. Off to Taupo, Huka Falls, the All Blacks vs the Wallabies and the Craters of the Moon were the highlights there. Next to Napier, which was wonderful just a beautiful place, we had great food and wine and a good hike around Te Mata peak. A final night in Martinborough before back to Wellington for the Lions vs Auckland and Karori Sanctuary.

A really good road trip with some interesting places to stay, really good weather and lots of relaxing. Sorry I'm not putting stuff into too much detail, but I've been enjoying my last week of break and just sleeping in and not doing much. We had a great time and if you're in the States, then Mom and Dad will probably show or send you pictures and if you're in Wellington, ask me and I will regale you with tales. If in neither of these places, email me or aim me and I will share. There's just a lot to say and I don't want to forget a story or bore someone with one story that might interest another. Oh and I seem to have got myself into another roleplaying game on Tuesday nights. So life is good and I feel like I've kind of found my place in Wellington. So I'm going to try and come back here for another year so I can get my masters and then go out into the world and teach, work at libraries and museums and see what I find.
