New Place and the Larp
May. 23rd, 2006 06:42 pmIts official, I have moved into Stafford House and I"m living in a lovely big room with four windows on the twelth floor. The way it works is there are three rooms and a shared kitchen and lounge, I'm sharing with a woman from Minnesota doing her bachelors in biology who wants to be a vet and a kiwi guy doing Law and philosophy, and they're Mike and Emma. I've unpacked fully for the first time, my shoes are out, I've got stuff on a corkboard and I can hear the city moving below me. I think this will be a good place and I finally have internet in my room. My laptop can finally become useful.
Also, I played in a Larp run by the Victoria gaming club, apparently Larps happen just once a year, which is too bad since it was a lot of fun. Basically it was kind of a science fiction UN meeting and I was the military representative for a small world that has military strength but not a lot of food. A huge amount of fun, I did lots of casually listening to conversations and after the game, went drinking and talking with some people who played, which was also lots of fun. I missed getting dressed up and meeting new people. Though I missed having someone I knew really well there, so it worked, but I'll be more relaxed at the next meeting.
I've been seeing some movies too, The Da Vinci Code, which was good but I personally don't see what the big deal about it is. And the best part of the movie was Ian McKellen just being a crazy British professor and taking the piss out of everything, since the movie took itself way too seriously. Also I got to see Return of the King at the Embassy Theatre and I cried a lot since I knew I would be moving out today and Rowan and I are officially over. We're still friends, but it hurts since we had some good times together.
I've got a major break coming up, but I still have a lot to do before I can get to it. I'm thinking that I might come back to the States for a little bit during the break since this first semester has been good but a little rough and I miss everyone. I"m not sure if that will happen, but it might be good for me. I'll send out an email with my new details and then please send mail and stuff. Things are good just busy and a bit complicated. Now I just have to do my reading for tommorow and boil some pasta for dinner.
