Last week of work
Aug. 16th, 2005 05:32 pmDuring work day while I was labeling one of sixty paua keychains, I suddenly realized that a week from tommorow I'll be on a plane leaving New Zealand. I wasn't quite ready for that, I've been thinking a lot more about the countdown to work being over since I don't like it that much and enjoying all my time with Rowan and just doing things that are fun for the sake of it. So last night, we went to dinner at Poppa's Pizza, the one good pizza place in town and tried pizza with anchoives, salty but good. And we also played at the arcade and I've discovered I'm good at fighting games, small and agile fingers make for a good button pusher. Work just keeps going between tiring and hard as Nathalie bosses me around and good when a lot is accomplished. I also feel good since I've helped to train Nicole, who's a new permanent person and quite nice. She's from Mount Maunganui up on the North Island and this is the first time she's been in the South Island, she's a little younger than I am I think and she's got a friend in Dunedin so she moved down here. Nicole's fun, she likes rugby and is relaxed and just is a nice addition and understands everything pretty well, so things haven't slowed down a lot. That's about it, life is work and making sure Rowan's healthy and enjoying all I can and hoping I'm not too tired after work. It looks like I'll get a chance to go a last meeting of the Tolkien Society before I leave, which will be nice, riddles, readings, cookies and tea.
I'm ready to leave work but not ready to leave New Zealand, but I will be back hopefully it won't be too long.
