Life and Other Stuff
May. 14th, 2005 07:52 pmRowan now has a livejournal, which is quite nice, since now other people can get a sense of this lovely man in my life. Life is going okay for me at the moment though I'm just about ready for a new job. Arthur Barnett's is short staffed and I'm getting tired of a job, where everything I do seems to revolve around money and stuff instead of people or at least ideas. Also lots of people are leaving for various reasons so I find myself doing a lot of the basic processing stock jobs, while Natalie and Denise help out with the actual creating of orders. Basically at the end of the day, I've lifted stuf, added up invoices and had departments telling me what I did wrong with rarely a thank so its time to move on. Hopefully Select won't cause too much of a problem and will help me find something that involves more of my brain and people skills.
In other big news, Rowan and I have started thinking about what's going to happen next. At the moment the plan is for me to stay in New Zealand until November, when he graduates and then he's going to come back to the States with me. The hope is when we get back, that I'll start graduate school in comparative literature or literature or classics and he may work or do grad school in history, lots of interesting choices. Also, I'm trying to plan a small trip up to the North Island and a place called Rotorua to visit an amazing Maori woman, who's a connection to my mother's side of the family, kind of. Its a long story, so I'll explain it better once I've met her and have photos.
My birthday's coming up which is fun since not only has Rowan got something planned, but the next night is a big dinner for the Tolkien Society, lots of Chinese food. Then hopefully I go up to Rotorua and then at the end of June, Rowan and I go to Wellington and spend time with his family. Rowan just commented on how massive this entry is, but I haven't updated in a while so that's what I'm doing. I'm trying to be in a positive place since it can be hard at the end of a long day of work and that's why I need to find something that makes me happy. I know I'm a temp and my options are limited, but honestly I can do better than this and my skills will be used better in another. Okay that's all for now, I promise I will post pictures soon, life just got in the way, which it has a habit of doing.
