Second Day
Sep. 2nd, 2004 04:14 amToday, I walked all over Auckland and now my feet hurt but I did some great stuff. I saw the War Memorial Museum which is on the top of a hill in a beautiful park and just has a wonderful collection of Maori artifacts, really special. So many of them just took my breath away. Then I went to the SkyTower, which is a cool place which has the highest bungy jump from a building in New Zealand, 192m. I went up to the observation deck, even though the elevator had a glass door and took lots of pictures of the city just spread out below. Also I saw two jumpers go by and took pictures of one. Then I had a nice restful sit at the bottom and read for a while and tried the New Zealand beer, which is a nice lager.
Tommorow, I get on a train and head down to Wellington, where I'll spend a day. Oh and I had a great experience at breakfast, I started talking to a couple from Invercargill, which is south of Dunedin and were really nice. And they've hosted students and such from all over the world and they said I'd do great. They're getting ready to follow the Silk Road starting in China. So, a really good day, now the trick is to make sure I get up early enough to get my bag out of storage and catch the train.
