Busy Weekend
Sep. 8th, 2003 10:33 pmI just got back from a nice active weekend with my parents on the Deleware shore. We've got a place in Lewes. Arrived on Friday night and had a nice restful meal at an awesome pub in town. Then Saturday was relaxing for the early part of the day then we went to the Nanticoke Indian Pow-wow, which was wonderful. There was dancing and we got to dance with lots of people and it was in the woods. Just one of those times, when I felt so priveldged that these people were willing to share part of their traditions with visitors. Also saw lots of beautiful things that I didn't buy. Though it also was kind of mixed, because some of the stuff they had to sell to get people there was just silly and I felt weird seeing the incredible regalia that people had crafted and jewelry and leather and everything that they shared with strangers. Just an odd feeling of not quite knowing where I fit in. But being invited to dance was awesome, I mean watching and then joining in all these different people dancing in a wood to the music of drummers just brought tears to my eyes. After that we headed back and had dinner with some of my parents friends. Sunday was also restful then we went to the opening of an art exhibit of one of my parents good friends and an amazing artist, which was a lot of fun. The gallery is marvelous because its this beautiful house so the art doesn't feel kind of put off in a seperate place but accesible and beautiful. Then I finally got my parents to see Seabiscuit which they really enjoyed. I knew they would, it just takes a lot to get them out to the movies. Just got back tonight after a highly lazy day. Tommorow, Wensday and Thursday I'll be working in Philly and life is good.
