Year in Review

I always find it interesting to do this year in review meme so I'm going to post it as my sister in law and nieces play hearts. Life is feeling pretty good at this point. My banking stuff is finally sorted after another phone call where someone reversed the overdraft charges and sped up my credit for stolen money. It's progress which I'm grateful for.

Also I've created mirror journals for all of my RP ones though the only differences is that Tiwa and Jane's journals don't have their underscores. I started some of the imports but then realized that honestly those can wait as with some of them that will be a project. Today was wonderful, our family went for a walk out by Cape Henlopen and I split off at one point and had a nice quiet second half of the walk and took some gorgeous pictures along with having an idea for a fic. The afternoon has been lazy and since the weather in Delaware is amazingly good, my father set up the chiminea we have outside so the girls could have s'mores.

We spent some nice time being chilly, drinking wine and eating sugar, I also took some good pictures. I love having my family close and discovering my brother and I have very similar music tastes as he gave me a playlist full of Ryan Adams. Currently there's lamb cooking in the oven and lots of delicious wine. I hope everyone's New Year is wonderful. I feel blessed to have spent this year with all of you and hopefully next year I can meet more of you.

1. What did you do in 2011 that you’d never done before?
I finished a masters!

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I mainly did.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No, they didn't.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No. Thankfully.

5. What countries did you visit?
None but I did get to go to Sonoma in California for the first time.

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
Someone to go home with. [personal profile] skidmo put it very well. Also I'd love a full time youth librarian job.

7. What date(s) from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Not a particular date but middle of February when I thought I wouldn't graduate and August when I finally did.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I have a Masters of Information!

9. What was your biggest failure?
I wanted to be more social and maybe go on some dates, also finding a job. None of them is the biggest but they bother me.

10. Did you suffer any illness or injury?
Near the start of the year I had a bad fall at America Reads and as it keeps bothering me, I think I did something to my knee. Otherwise nothing too huge.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
My MacBook Pro, I love having a computer that works so well.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My friends who reminded me that I'd find a way through the morass of Michigan's bureaucracy, my family for helping me through lean times and the strangers who read my words and like them.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Politicians, students and not too many others.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Food, books

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Masters and my brother getting married.

16. What song will always remind you of 2011?
Evil is alive and well-Jakob Dylan though the entire Seeing Things album counts for me.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? happier
ii. thinner or fatter? a bit fatter
iii. richer or poorer? poorer

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Job applications, networking

Stressing out.

No.

23. How many one-night stands?
None.

Once Upon a Time, Doctor Who

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
I don't think I feel strongly enough about anyone to call it hate.

26. What was the best book you read?
I hate this question and don't really have a good answer for it. I've read too many books and I never think of them as best.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Jakob Dylan and Seanan McGuire

28. What did you want and get?
My masters

29. What did you want and not get?
Someone to go home with.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
X-Men: First Class, it set me writing so much. Thor and Captain America are tied for next.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 30 which is weird and didn't do a lot on the day. I bought myself a nice dinner and sundae but had a great celebration at my brother's wedding.

Graduating in April and a job.

Comfortable and work appropriate.

34. What kept you sane?
Friends, family, RP, writing, music.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
James McAvoy, he's a constant for me and I loved that XMFC made more people aware of him.

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The Arab Spring, it was so inspiring and then seeing the parallel in the Occupy movement gives me hop as well as worry.

37. Who did you miss?
My family and Milliways' people that I didn't have time to visit.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
[personal profile] dodger_sister, we clicked in a way that makes me smile and I plan to make sure that there are many watching marathons for us.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011:
Ask for help. People are usually willing to give it.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
It's a struggle, it's a shame

It's all give and no take

Whatever, it is now, it's right up to our waist

It's a pity, it's a shame to see it all slip away

I've seen you worried babe, but never this way

We hold our ground, we don't kneel

If we go down we go

Down on our own shield
