Summary William takes Katya to Moscow for Christmas.
Written as a gift for
bodldops who requested William, Katya and a proper Russian Christmas. I'm sorry for the delay and I hope you like it.
It took a lot of planning and William agreed to lose his door for a few months at various times in exchange but he found a way to get a door to Moscow. His main worry is that it doesn’t go to Katya’s Moscow instead to the one in his time, he doesn’t want it to feel too different for her but Bar promised the parts of Christmas that mattered would be there.
Katya finds him discussing the final details with Bar and holding a long and elegant coat and hat for her, “These are for me?”
She is trying to not be too suspicious but he has a way of having rather odd plans.
“Yes, you need to put them on for this present.”
The coat muffles the sounds of her bangles but it’s of a deep black that has a hint of a shimmer to it and she nods as perhaps it will do. When she picks up the hat which is of fur, she laughs, “Why am I being dressed so primly, William?”
“You’ll see, please, you’ll like it.”
“Foolish boy, you asked,” Though she’s starting to get impatient and William does his best to give her one of his more serious looks so that she’ll stop questioning him. At his look, Katya laughs and puts on the hat as he opens the door for her and as the cold Russian air surrounds them, she moves through, tugging him along.
On the other side, they stepped onto Red Square where St. Basil’s rises in its colors triumphant for Christmas and the Tsar. William looks over at her, he wants this to be right and she pulls him into a hug before they’re on the move into the city. He tries to remember all the things they see and eat, but none of the words make sense to him, but he knows this was the right present.
When the sun starts to come up, they’re in the square once again, eating pelmeni that was made for them by someone that William thinks Katya might have been related to. Soon the door will reappear but for now, there is sun to warm them and the city that Katya calls home.

(And Katya TOTALLY hauled William to Seymon's place, who took them to some guy he met while hitch-hiking across the entire continent, who, in the dead of night, whipped up the sort of food Katya had been babbling about for years. Also, they all got Very Drunk. She may or may not have snogged him at some point in the evening. :D!)

I just had this great image of William planning everything and once they got there, Katya took over.
