I just posted my first fic over on ![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
queer_fest which is one that clicked for me when I read the prompt and this FicFriday was busy. Life is full of various good things as I'm currently hanging out with the_croupier and got to go to Dawn Treader where I picked up many wonderful books. I've really needed this break.

Thunder: Tom Smith
On nights when the sky was ripped with thunder, he'd hunker down beside his horse and be thankful to be able to look up.
Sea Level: Charles Howard
In California, sea level meant the beach and days with sand in his shoes. It was never his favorite place, that was home.
Hard Won: Red
Jockeys and fighters both agree, you're only as good as your last race or fight. With Pops, the races didn't feel as hard.
canon of choice: Glimmer: Tiwa
In the dawn, the world glimmered as the sun hit the dew and she sat at the top of Mount Vic before jumping into tomorrow.

Moist struggled against the duct tape over his mouth and glared at Joshua and Claudia, "Its for the best. Pete might believe you."

Joshua found Uberwald odd, it was like Europe but stranger. He'd never seen Al to be so scared of every shadow, but the devices.

Empty promises
He listened hoping that this time the government would present something that didn't feel hollow but could create true change.

When he watched Kitty and Piotr together, he began to hope that perhaps they could build a future. Love knew how to find a way.

Jane tossed and turned, sleep wouldn't come. All the possibilities of their future swirled in her mind alongside words and words.

Spring is when life begins once more, when Kore walks the earth and with her touch brings hope to all who feel her passing.

It seemed like he and his father only ever talked in letters. When the newest one came, he sighed and hated being so far away.

They knew each other so well, there was no need to say every day, "I love you." Instead their gardens said it as they bloomed.

Before they left, Roe filled his pack and then gave more supplies to Sariel, no one would end up hurting if they could help it.

Summary:
Written for Queer Fest 2013 and the prompt: X-Men: First Class, Charles Xavier(/Erik Lehnsherr), Erik is the first person Charles has ever been completely honest with. Though Raven may have known about his telepathy, she didn't know he was queer.
Told from Charles and Raven's points of view as they navigate this new aspect of their relationship. Sexual tension between Charles and Erik is present but not acted upon. References to period fears of being queer in the 1950s and 1960s.
