Yes, exactly, it was all about her. And even when she was older and supposed to atone and realize what she did was wrong, it never felt sincere. It all felt like playing a part which was disturbing.

I think I've read that McEwan doesn't tend to write sympathetic characters but the fact that I pretty much hated that character kind of worried me. I don't want to read or watch stories like that.
